Words to Norman
My memories of you begin with
orientation. You were one of the
first students that I spoke to
about the Black MBA Student
Association. You faithfully
attended meetings, always
willing to volunteer and take on
additional responsibilities. For
that we were so grateful. You
planned to the community service
activities for us, you always
wanted to help in any way that
you could.
Next came the Christmas social,
and my inability to play pool.
You were very patient with me.
Teaching me how to hold the pool
stick and make a decent shot.
You cheered me on, and
eventually I got one.
At the graduation party, I was
surprised that you remembered
our first interaction. I knew
that the chapter would be in
excellent hands for the upcoming
year. You were so full of ideas.
Then, the news came of your
death. I was very angry that
someone had stolen all of your
hard work… all of your
potential. I will always
remember your smile and what a
fine person you were. I could
always count on seeing that
smile to brighten up my day.
Your torch will always burn
bright in my heart. For I know
that you are with God. Even in
your death you are still
teaching us to make the most out
of each day. Thank you for
sharing your life and your
spirit with me. I will miss you
immensely.
